Yeah Man (Westerner) Wins His Maiden Hurdle At Thurles

Son Of Westerner Goes One Better In Maiden Hurdle

A step up in trip saw Yeah Man (6g Westerner - Baraza, by Kalanisi) gain a well-deserved under rules in Thursday’s Maiden Hurdle at Thurles.

Cormac Doyle’s debut point-to-point winner was bought by Gavin Cromwell for €95,000 last year and went on to finish second on his first two starts over hurdles. Stepping up to two miles and seven furlongs on Thursday, the bay was sent off favourite under Keith Donoghue and produced a challenge approaching the second last. Soon in front, he was ridden out to win by two lengths and three quarters.

Bred by Brandon View Stud, the son of Westerner is owned by JR Brennan and Martin Hannan.
