Rockys Treasure (Westerner) Blows Away His Rivals In The Grade 2 December Novices Chase At Doncaster

Son Of Westerner Hammers Opposition To Win Grade 2 Chase

Rocky’s Treasure (7g Westerner - Fiddlers Bar, by Un Desperado) blew away the opposition to win Saturday’s Grade 2 December Novices’ Chase at Doncaster.

Sent to lead immediately by David Bass, the Kim Bailey-trained favourite began to draw clear with four fences left to jump and stayed on well all the while, extending his advantage to 17 lengths on the line. The RSA Chase may now be the winner’s aim, according to assistant trainer Matt Nicholls, who also commented, “That looked a good race and Rocky's Treasure destroyed them.”

It was a fourth win in five starts this season for Rocky’s Treasure, whose sole defeat came to Santini (Milan) in a Grade 2 contest run on less than ideal ground. Listed-placed over hurdles, the J Perriss-owned gelding gained his maiden victory between the flags, winning his sole start for Declan Queally impressively. Bred by A.W. Young, Rocky’s Treasure is a half-brother to Grade 1 runner-up Double Shuffle (Milan).
