Son Of Yeats Lands Beginners Chase On Return

Friday saw the Gavin Cromwell-trained Ilikedwayurthinkin (7g Yeats - Sway, by Califet) make a winning return to action in the Beginners Chase at Ballinrobe.

Stepping up to two miles and seven furlongs for the first time, the son of Yeats was sent off second favourite under Luke Dempseu, who rode him to chase the leaders. Producing a challenge at the final fence, he kept on well on the run-in to score by two and a half lengths, with another 12 lengths back to the rest of the field.

Owned by JP McManus and bred by Mrs Noreen McManus, Ilikedwayurthinkin was also a dual winner over hurdles at the 2019 Galway Festival. He continues a fine run for the family, with full-brother Spades Are Trumps (Yeats) having landed a Beginners Chase last month, while close relation Limerick Lace (Walk In The Park) made an impressive debut at Punchestown earlier in the year.
