Saturday saw the Ed Walker-trained Coconut (3f Australia - Spinning Queen, by Spinning World) gain a deserved maiden win over a mile and a half at Newbury.

Second on debut and again last time out, the chesnut was sent off second favourite for the Maiden Stakes under Jamie Spencer. Racing in midfield for much of the way, she improved from three furlongs out and was switched right to challenge approaching the two furlong marker. Leading inside the final furlong, she was ridden out to win by two lengths and three quarters.

Owned by Nat Rothschild and bred by Kincorth Investments, Coconut is closely related to Listed winner Gallipot (Galileo) and useful miler Trade Commissioner (Montjeu).
