Third Time Lucky For Classy Camelot Filly

Volkovka (3f Camelot - Drole De Dame, by Anabaa) built on promising performances to gain her maiden win in a Class 2 contest at Dax on Tuesday.

Third and fourth on her only previous starts, the Simone Brogi-trained filly was one of eight to line up for the Prix du Jardin des Plantes over an extended ten furlongs. Ioritz Mendizabal positioned the bay in midfield, quickeneing with the leaders as they turned for home and was asked to challenge three furlongs out. Asserting after the two furlong marker, she was driven out to win comfortably by half a length.

The Alain Jathiere-owned winner had clearly impressed at home, judging by her entry in the Prix de Diane. Bred by Haras Du Cadran and JML Racing, the daughter of Camelot hails from the family of Montmartre (Montjeu), Kalaglow and Armarama.
