Tiz Purple Fifth Winner for Tiz The Law
It was a second Saratoga Maiden Special Weight winner for Tiz The Law on Wednesday and fifth winner overall when Tiz Purple (2f Tiz the Law x Purple Lights, by Graydar) broke her maiden in her second start.
The six-furlong dirt race saw Tiz Purple break quickly out of the gate and take the lead almost immediately. In the turn, she had to deal with a challenge with just over a quarter mile left to run and entered the stretch still battling with that one.
The duel lasted until the final sixteenth when Tiz Purple broke loose to win by 1 ½ lengths with the third placed runner a farther 5 ¼ lengths back.
Trained by Jorge Delgado for Anthony Gentry, the filly was bred by Kinnickinnic Stables in Kentucky.
The juvenile is out of a half-sister to Grade III winner and Grade II-placed Baby J and stakes winners Laureate Conductor and Lavender Chrissie among the five stakes performers out of Lavendar Baby.
This victory comes a day after a Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale that saw Tiz The Law yearlings sell for up to $250,000.
