Ultimate Getaway Goes Clear Under A Penalty

Ultimate Getaway (7g Getaway - Ultimate Echo, by Gamut) could hardly have been more impressive when carrying a penalty to a wide margin success in Monday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Perth.

An impressive winner of his maiden hurdle last month, Fergal O’Brien’s charge finished second to the progressive Fire Away (Getaway) next time out and stepped up to two miles and five furlongs on Monday. Chasing the leaders under Liam Harrison, he made headway to press the leader at the third last and was pushed along to lead at the penultimate flight. Racing clear, he won by 23 lengths on the line.

A dual bumper winner last season, Ultimate Getaway is owned by Foxtrot Racing. The son of Getaway was bred by William Delaney out of a half-sister to Irish Grand National victor Hear The Echo.
