Unbeaten Camelot Filly To Target Prix De Diane
Pensee Du Jour (3f Camelot - Painter’s Pride, by Dansili) enhanced her Classic claims with a hugely impressive performance in the Listed Prix Rose de Mai at Saint-Cloud.
The Andre Fabre-trained filly emerged as an exciting prospect last month, when drawing four lengths clear at Chantilly, and was sent off a short-priced favourite to remain unbeaten on Thursday. Making most of the running under Mickael Barzalona, she looked the likely winner from two furlongs out and soon quickened clear to win by an easy seven lengths.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “She is an easy ride, she does what you want and has a nice acceleration. She has all it takes to make a top filly and has a lot going for her, but still has a few steps to climb to get there.”
Pensee Du Jour runs in the colours of Ballymore Thoroughbred and was bred by the Wildenstein family under the banner of Dayton Investments. Representing the owner/breeders, Anthony Stroud commented on future plans, “There's a Group race here in three weeks' time, which she'll probably go for if she comes out of this okay. Then she'll have had three races and the Prix de Diane would be the objective.”
Pensee Du Jour adds to an exciting season ahead for Camelot, whose 2022 Group 1 winners Luxembourg and Sammarco remain in training.
