Uncle Mo Mare Back to Best in General Assembly

Hendy Woods (5m Uncle Mo x Separate Forest, by Forestry) was back on top on Saturday when she dead-heated for a win in the Listed Indiana General Assembly Distaff Stakes.

The Stonestreet Stables homebred had just three horses beat for much of the 1 1/16-mile turf race, galloping happily under Florent Geroux. As they entered the stretch, Geroux swept her to the outside from the rail in one swift movement and the race was on.

Hendy Woods came down the outside late and made big strides toward catching the leading Flippant. The pair were nose to nose at the wire with Hendy Woods getting hers in front just one stride later.

This is the third stakes victory for Hendy Woods, who is also a multiple graded stakes placed runner. Trained by Mark Casse, she has won six of 15 starts with three other top three finishes for $599,131 in earnings.

Hendy Woods is out of the Grade III winning Separate Forest, a half-sister to dual Panama champion Indiano.

Hendy Woods has a yearling half-brother by Munnings and was bred back to Uncle Mo for this year.

Uncle Mo is the sire of eight stakes winners and 22 stakes performers in 2022, led by Grade I Belmont Stakes winner Mo Donegal. He’s had three stakes winners in the last seven days.
