Off Limits (Mastercraftsman) winning the G1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar

US Grade One Winner for Mastercraftsman

In-form mare Off Limits (5m Mastercraftsman x Ravish, by Efisio) scored the biggest win of her career when taking out the $302,070 Grade I Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar on Sunday.

Previously prepared by David Wachman, for whom she won the Listed Killarney Cairn Rouge Stakes in Ireland, Off Limits is now owned by Martin Schwartz with Chad Brown training.

She came into this Grade I assignment off two Graded wins in New York and charged to the line from back in the field to win this one mile turf contest by a length.

“It was a perfect trip,” said winning rider Joel Rosario.

“Just what we wanted. She’s got that great turn of foot. That’s what makes her so special--and she wants to win. When she sees horses in front of her, she wants to go get them.”

The sixth Grade I winner for dashing grey Danehill Dancer sire Mastercraftsman, Off Limits has won seven of 17 starts and is the best of four winners from Ravish, a half-sister to stakes-winner Special Discount.
