Well Bred Zoffany Filly Gains Deserved Maiden Success

Coolmore Stud homebred Rose D’Etoile (3f Zoffany - Highest Ever, by Galileo) gained a deserved maiden victory in Monday’s Prix Louis Cambreleng at Vichy.

The Andre Fabre-trained filly was placed on her two previous starts, most recently finishing second to subsequent Listed winner Paix. Racing over a mile and a half, the grey made all under Pierre-Charles Boudot and quickened towards the standside rail upon entering the straight. Driven out, she fended off numerous challenges to win by a length and a quarter from Sebille (Kingston Hill) in second.

A half-sister to Group 3 performer Villa D’Amore (Mastercraftsman), Rose D’Etoile becomes the second winner out of Highest Ever (Galileo), herself a daughter of Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet heroine Alpine Rose. Highest Ever has a two-year-old filly named Joie de Soir (Fastnet Rock) in training with Andre Fabre.

By Zoffany and out of a Galileo mare, Rose D’Etoile is bred on the same cross as Stakes winners Lyzbeth and Zofelle, as well as Federal, who made a winning debut at Leopardstown last week.
