Quickstep (Wootton Bassett) wins the Prix du Louvre at Longchamp

Wootton Bassett Filly Justifies Classic Entries

Quickstep (3f Wootton Bassett - Dance Toupie, by Dansili) made it two wins from three starts when beating a talented field in the Prix du Louvre at Longchamp on Thursday.

A debut winner in December, the Andre Fabre-trained bay finished a fine fourth to more experienced rivals in a Group 3 earlier this month and stepped up to a mile on her third start. Sent off favourite under Alexis Puchin, she made all of the running and began to quicken after the two furlong marker. Ridden inside the final furlong, she ran on well to win by a neck, while Elounda Queen (Australia) took third.

A return to Stakes class may now be on the cards for Quickstep, who had two Group performers behind her on Thursday. The Godolphin-owned bay holds entries in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, Prix Saint Alary and Prix de Diane.

Bred by Mathieu Daguzan-Garros, the daughter of Wootton Bassett was bought by Stroud Coleman as a yearling for 350,000gns.
