Felix Yonger (8g Oscar-Marble Sound, by Be My Native) carried Andrea and Graham Wylie’s colours to a gutsy success in the G2 Hilly Way Chase at Cork on Sunday.
Danny Mullins, nephew of winning trainer Willie Mullins, got his mount up on the line to lead home a 1-2-3 for Oscar with Mallowney (8g Oscar-Silkaway, by Buckskin) in second and Days Hotel (9g Oscar-Call Catherine, by Strong Gale) taking third.
It was a third G2 success for the winner, who was bred by J Brophy, and the successful trainer told irishracing.com: “Danny was very good on him to get him up. The horse was able to come back to two miles and win on ground that he supposedly doesn’t like so maybe he’s improving.”
Danny Mullins added: “I knew a good jump (at the last) would help me out, and he stayed on really well. He was always a class horse, and Ruby (Walsh) said the other day that he thought he was coming back to his best.”
Felix Yonger was winning a day after Oscar Time (13 g Oscar-Baywatch Star, by Supreme Leader) took the G3 Becher Chase at Aintree for Oscar.
