$1.1 Million Justify Colt On Top at Gulfstream Sale
Justify had the highest priced colt of the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale on Wednesday when a half-brother to Grade I Belmont Stakes winner Tapwrit sold for $1.1 million.
Bought on behalf of Coolmore by Jamie McCalmont, the Wavertree Stables-consigned juvenile breezed last week in :10.0 as one of the fastest of the sale. He is out of the Grade I winning juvenile Appealing Zophie, who has produced three stakes winners and two stakes performers from her six winners.
In addition to Tapwrit, she is the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Ride a Comet and stakes winner and Grade III-placed Inject. Another daughter produced the stakes winning Kenai Bob. Appealing Zophie returned to Justify last season as well.
The only other Justify on offer sold for $275,000 to Marvin Boyd early in the sale.
There have only been five Justify juveniles on offer so far this season but there are 18 cataloged for next month’s OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds In Training sale to come.
