$190,000 Cupid Colt Kicks off Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream
Cupid’s only offering at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale was in high demand as the first hip through the ring at Gulfstream Park with the juvenile bringing $190,000 from 46 Peaks Equine.
Offered by L G as agent, the colt is a half-brother to Munnings’ multiple stakes winner and Grade II-placed King Kranz among three winners from three to race out of Queen Congie. A page with six stakes winners under the colt’s first three dams, his dam is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade I-placed King Congie and stakes winner Chick Dig Scars.
The colt’s family registered another stakes performer in January when Wise Anchor finished second in the Louisiana Legacy Stakes. That 3-year-old is out of Queen Congie’s eight-time winning half-sister Oh Wise One and by a Tapit son – making him closely related to this 2-year-old colt.
Standing for $5,000 this year, Cupid’s first 2-year-olds have sold for $190,000, $160,000, $100,000, etc. and averaged over 13 times his stud fee.
