$310,000 Uncle Mo Colt Catches Eye at Keeneland
Uncle Mo’s Hip 472 was the second most expensive short yearling colt of the 2022 Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale this week when Sand Hill Bloodstock snapped him up for $310,000.
The colt also had the distinction of being the highest priced short yearling of the second session.
Consigned by Stuart Morris on behalf of Waldorf Farm, he is the second foal out of the Smart Strike mare Canadian River. A 7-year-old, Canadian River was unraced but is a half-sister to 10 winners, including Group II winner Montgomery’s Arch, stakes winner Welcome Inn, and multiple graded stakes placed Indy Minnie.
Two of Canadian River’s half-sisters have also produced stakes performers.
A top sire year in and year out, Uncle Mo is the sire of 74 stakes winners from only six crops and is quickly proving to be a sire of sires with multiple sons in the top 10 on their generational lists the last two years.
