$320,000 for Lookin At Lucky Filly
The first crop of yearlings by Champion Two and Three Year Old Lookin At Lucky have been in hot demand at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the son of Smart Strike providing the top selling filly during Sunday’s session.
Consigned by Paramount Sales, the filly from Elissa Beethoven was knocked down to champion trainer Bob Baffert for $320,000 proving a sensational pinhook as she was purchased as a weanling for just $45,000.
“She reminds me of Lookin At Lucky—she’s a very elegant filly and she looks like she’ll go two turns,” said Baffert.
“We’ve seen a bunch from the sire we like.”
Earlier in the sale, Baffert bought another Lookin At Lucky colt for $490,000, which was his highest price so far at this sale.
“They all seem to have great minds--and he had a really great mind,” said Baffert, who trained Lookin at Lucky throughout his glittering career.
“He’s throwing a lot of class. We’ll have a lot of homebreds out of really nice mares, too, so we’re excited.”
