$375,000 Colt Leads Uncle Mo Offerings During Second Fasig Session
It was another successful session for Uncle Mo at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale when a $375,000 colt led his offerings.
Steve Rothblum bought the colt for Mark Davis from the Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds consignment as the second most expensive colt of the session.
Named Invincible, it was the second time the Peter Blum-bred colt has gone through the ring this juvenile season after being sold for $225,000 at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in April. He is a half-brother to Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Magical Feeling, who also produced the stakes winning trio of Exulting, Magical, and Occult.
Their Forestry dam is a half-sister to stakes winner Grand Royale and stakes placed Dubai World. Also under this colt’s second dam are Uncle Mo’s Grade I winner Dream Tree and Grade I Travers Stakes winner Golden Ticket.
A blueblooded Uncle Mo son was purchased for $300,000 by Destin Heath on behalf of Krattinger Racing on Tuesday.
Bred by the William and Betty Currin Trust, the colt was purchased by Scanlon Training and Sales as a yearling and consigned by them him here. The colt is the youngest out of the successful broodmare Wilshewed, who also produced Grade I winner Stormello, Grade II winner My Best Brother, Grade III winner Gala Award, and stakes winner and Grade I-placed Cherry Lodge among her eight winners from 12 to race.
In all, Wilshewed produced five stakes performers and two other stakes producers during her broodmare career. Among those is a two-time winning full sister to Stormello and My Best Brother who produced dual Canadian champion Curlin’s Voyage.
Uncle Mo was also the sire of a $300,000 filly purchased by John Guarnere from Wavertree Stables.
Breezing in :10.3 just like the $300,000 colt, the filly is out of the winning Giant’s Causeway mare Susie’s Baby. Bred by Diamond Creek Farm, the colt is a half-brother to three winners from four to race led by Uncle Mo’s Grade III winner and multiple Grade I placed Family Way. Susie’s Baby is out of the stakes winning Mekko Hokte, who also produced dual Group I winner Caravaggio and Grade II winner My Jen.
A successful racehorse herself, My Jen is also the dam of Grade III winner Purpur Ray and Grade III placed Satono Gold.
This was the second big day for Uncle Mo at the sale, who is also the sire of a filly who sold for $625,000 during the first session.
