$390,000 Air Force Blue Colt Kicks Off Two-Year-Old Sales
Air Force Blue was off to a fast start on Tuesday at the OBS March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale when his Hip 27 took the early lead, selling for $390,000 to Willis Horton Racing from the RiceHorse Stable consignment.
The colt out of Dreamy Maiden is a half-brother to Group II winner Daddy Long Legs and Listed winner Tres Dream. Their Listed winning dam followed her dam’s example with Sparrow Lake a two-time stakes winner. Dreamy Maiden is also a half-sister to the dam of stakes winner and Group II placed Medzendeekron.
Consignor Brandon Rice of RiceHorse Stable was delighted with the result and commented “Right from the breaking process we thought he was special, but you don’t really know anything until you start putting the speed on him. Right from the first work, he felt amazing. He gave you goosebumps... We’d been blessed with such a good horse - eats well, trains well, takes care of himself, always overachieves breezing... He’s just brilliant… I’ve got good mojo about this sire.”
Bred by Sierra Farm, the colt is the first 2-year-old through the ring for Champion European 2-Year-Old Air Force Blue whose first yearlings were high in demand last year.
