$400,000 Filly For Uncle Mo at Fasig-Tipton

Jonathan Thomas purchased the fourth most expensive horse of the second Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds In Training session on Tuesday when he purchased Uncle Mo’s filly out of Corby for $400,000.

Tied for the fourth most expensive spot overall in the session, she was also the co-second most expensive filly with Uncle Mo’s Grade I winner Gomo the dam of the session and overall filly topper. Uncle Mo was also the damsire of studmate Classic Empire’s $400,000 offering.

Uncle Mo’s own $400,000 filly offered by de Meric Sales is the first out of multiple stakes-placed Corby.

That mare is a half-sister to Grade I winner and stakes producer Celtic Melody and the dam of Grade II Norfolk winner Bapak Chinta. Corby’s dam Ballynaugh is a half-sister to Grade I winner Delicate Vine and the granddam of Grade I winner Georgie Boy with many of her siblings producing stakes horses or stakes producers.

A leading sire year after year – and now a successful sire-of-sires – Uncle Mo has had a strong 2-year-old sales season with his 10 sold bringing $1.3 million, $825,000, $550,000, etc.

That success follows up on a season that saw him have the most graded stakes winners of any North American stallion in 2020 with 14.
