$410,000 Colt for Classic Empire at Fasig-Tipton

Classic Empire’s first through the ring at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale on Wednesday was also his most expensive when the colt out of Bold Quality brought $410,000.

Sold to Klaravich Stable from the SBM Training and Sales consignment, Hip 77 is the second foal out of the Grade II-placed Bold Quality. That daughter of Grade III winner and Grade II-placed Bold Union hit the board in three of her five starts.

It was the colt’s second time through the ring with the Steven and Brandi Nicholson-bred bringing $140,000 last October. By a champion 2-year-old and out of a winning and graded stakes placed 2-year-old, the colt has the pedigree to make plenty of noise this year.

Bold Quality is one of three stakes performing dams for the colt with both his granddam and great-granddam winning graded stakes. His fourth dam Worldy Bold never raced but is also the dam of a stakes winner and a stakes producer.

Classic Empire’s other offering to sell from three through the ring was a $300,000 colt purchased by Marc Tacher.

Offered by Randy Bradshaw, the colt was one of the final offerings in the sale but that didn’t stop him from being a popular offering. Just like the $410,000 colt he is out of an Elusive Quality mare who is a daughter of a stakes performer.

The second foal out of the unraced Mriya, the colt’s dam is also a half-sister to stakes winner and graded stakes placed Crafty Daddy. Third dam Shawklit Mint is a Grade II winner, who is also the dam of a stakes placer and the granddam of a stakes placer.

The family also includes graded stakes winners Money Multipler, Intense Holiday, and Crafty Shaw among others.

A Champion 2-Year-Old and 3-year-old Grade I winner, Classic Empire has seen his first crop well received with his first yearlings selling for $375,000, $350,000, $340,000, etc.
