$600,000 Uncle Mo Colt Tops Barretts Spring 2YO’s in Training
A classy colt by Uncle Mo from Fresia was the top priced offering at the Barretts Spring 2YO’s in Training when fetching $600,000 on Wednesday.
Consigned by Eddie Woods, the colt was bought by LEB, agent for West Point Thoroughbreds and is from a placed half-sister to Grade III winner His Race to Win.
He was a successful pinhook for Woods’s Quarter Pole Enterprises having been bought initially last year for just $60,000 at the Barretts Select Yearling Sale.
“I thought he was a beautiful horse,” West Point’s Terry Finley told TDN after signing the ticket on the colt alongside bloodstock agent David Ingordo.
“I thought he was a horse that would have fit in either of the first two sales [OBS March or Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale] we came to. The fact that he is a California bred, that was just icing on the cake. He was a very special horse.
West Point has a number of up and comers by Uncle Mo and Finley said he is quickly becoming a fan of the stallion.
“We like Uncle Mo - this class of 35 horses that we are going to come to the races with, we have four Uncle Mo’s. So I am starting to warm up to Uncle Mo a little bit more than I was,” he added.
