$625,000 Filly Leads Justify’s Thursday Yearlings
The fourth day of selling at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale saw Justify’s yearlings snapped up by buyers, led by a $625,000 purchase by Whisper Hill Farm.
Sold late in the session, the filly offed by Anderson Farms is a three-quarter sister to stakes winner and multiple Grade II placed Inflexibility. The gray filly’s other siblings include stakes winner Halo Again and Grade II-placed Fundamental from Halo Verse’s five to race – all winners.
Halo’s Verse is out of the stakes-placed Ballado’s Halo, who is a full sister to champion Ashado, Grade I winner Sunriver, and Grade III winner Saint Stephen.
The filly was joined by a $500,000 colt purchased by M.V. Magnier a little over 60 hips before she went through the ring. The second foal out of Grade III winner Dark Nile, the Justify colt was consigned by Warrendale Sales on behalf of WinStar Farm. Dark Nile is a granddaughter of stakes winner Tres Coronas, who herself is one of four stakes performers out of Scapegoat.
Others by Justify sold in the fourth session included a $450,000 colt named Justice hammered down to the BSW/Crow Colts Group and a colt purchased for $400,000 out of Chocolate Souffle by Winchell Thoroughbreds.
Japanese trainer Hideyuki Mori has proven to be a big fan of Justify this September and on Thursday added a half-sister to Grade I Belmont Stakes winner Creator to the group of six Justify yearlings he’ll be taking back to Japan.
Justify’s 47 yearlings sold this week are averaging $440,043 with a median of $400,000, led by a $1.55 million colt on Wednesday.
