$700,000 Justify Colt Tops MM Horses in Training
Justify is not in Australia this spring, but he does have some lovely foals being born here and he was making news on Tuesday when his colt from Port Augusta topped the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale when selling for $700,000 to Yulong.
The star colt was originally purchased out of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $300,000 and was prepared for the auction by the Kenmore Lodge team.
"He was a pretty easy horse to prepare," Kenmore's Kellie Bond said. "He had so much quality, a beautiful pedigree and was just a ripping individual.
"It was pretty easy to see he was going to be a quality lot. They (buyers) were all over him the minute he got here. "His breeze up was exceptional - great stride length and he's by a horse who can get an absolute superstar.
"You could easily see why he would get a good result and it was nice that Yulong was able to secure him."
He is a half-brother to stakes-placed Lady Young and is from blueblood Encosta de Lago mare Port Augusta, a half-sister to Group I winning sire Holy Roman Emperor and three more stakes-winners from a female family tracing to legendary producer Fanfreluche.
Justify also had the second highest priced horse of the sale with his filly from Sacred Witness selling for $425,000 to Bartholomew & Co.
