$850,000 Colt for Uncle Mo at Keeneland September

Mayberry Farm signed for a $850,000 Uncle Mo colt early in Monday’s opening Keeneland September session from Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services as agent for South Gate Farm.

The half-brother to Grade I Hopeful Stakes winner Forte is the second foal out of the multiple stakes winning Blame mare Queen Caroline, who is one of three stakes performers out of stakes winner Queens Plaza. The page also includes champions Folklore, Contrail, and Essential Quality.

Less than 50 hips later, Belladonna Racing and Cherie DeVaux won the bidding at $550,000 for an Uncle Mo filly out of Grade II-placed Splash Kisses, who is also by Blame. Sold by Denali Stud, the filly’s granddam is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Chhaya Dance with the page including U.S. champion Tempera and Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Equerry.

Juddmonte was also among the buyers of Uncle Mo yearlings during the first session with a $475,000 winning bid on a filly out of Show Stealer from the Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency consignment. A multiple Grade II-placed mare, Show Stealer is a half-sister to Grade II winner Barbecue Eddie, stakes winner Slip and Drive, and stakes winner Stoupinator.

Uncle Mo’s five sold averaged $431,000 with a median of $475,000 during the opening session of this year’s sale.
