Justify X Global Glamour yearling selling for $900,000 at the Magic Millions

$900,000 Justify Filly from G1 Star Global Glamour

The second yearling by Triple Crown winner Justify to be offered at Magic Millions on Tuesday doubled the price of his first yearling sold (Lot 1 for $450,000) when fetching $900,000 to the bid of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott/ Kestrel Thoroughbreds.

Consigned by Coolmore, she is the second foal of Global Glamour who won over $1.5million for the Waterhouse Bott stable with highlight victories in the Group I ATC Flight Stakes and MRC Thousand Guineas.

Her first foal, a colt by Zoustar, made $600,000 at this sale last year and was also bought by Waterhouse and Bott, but is yet to be named.

“I’m very excited,” Waterhouse told ANZ Bloodstock News.

“She’s a magnificent filly, very rangy, and very much a daughter of Justify, who is a lovely, big loose sort of stallion, and of course the mare we knew very well.

“She’s got quite a bit of similarity with Global Glamour. She won the Flight Stakes at Randwick and I put her on a float and a week later she took out the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.

“You don’t get that sort of toughness anywhere but in Australia.

“She is a beautiful mover, very fluid. I think southern hemisphere mares will put a lot of speed into Justify. American horses can be a bit long hip-to-hock, and Australians are much more short-coupled, so it’ll be interesting how they (Justify offspring) will shorten up over the years.”

The best performer for her sire Star Witness, Global Glamour has been a darling of the Magic Millions sale ring, bought as a yearling for just $65,000 by James Bester / It's All About The Girls Syndicate before lighting up the sale ring when returning as a broodmare prospect in 2019.

She was bought on that occasion by a partnership of Coolmore/Gerry Harvey/James Bester for $1,550,000.

Justify had four yearlings sell in the opening session for an average $400,000 to be leading first season sire on day one and third on the overall sires by average list.
