Accelerate Wins Grade Two San Pasqual

Classy performer Accelerate (5h Lookin at Lucky x Issues, by Awesome Again) found his best form to win the $201,380 Grade II San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday.

Trained by John Sadler, the son of Lookin at Lucky was runner-up to Midnight Storm in last year’s San Pasqual and is best known for his upset of champion Arrogate in the Grade II San Diego Handicap at Del Mar last summer.

He showed his class when powering clear to win the 1 and 1/8th mile contest by a length and three-quarters taking his overall record to five wins and nine placings from 16 starts earning over $900,000 of prizemoney.

A $380,000 Keeneland September purchase, Accelerate runs for Hronis Racing and was the most expensive yearling by his sire sold in 2014.

A half-brother to stakes-winners Amarish and Daddy DT, Accelerate is from the good producing stakes-placed mare Issues.
