Agador Gives Caravaggio 20th Winner
White Birch Farm homebred Agador (2c Caravaggio x Marunouchi, by Peintre Celebre) made easy work of his racing debut in France on Tuesday with a six length victory.
Racing over 1 ¼ miles, the Jean Claude Rouget trained Agador broke strongly and was quickly prominent in the race when taking up a leading position. An eager pacemaker was soon pulling away with Agador happy to sit back and let that one run on.
Racing beside another horse for third, he was patiently handled by Hugo Mouesan who waited to unleash the colt until they turned into the straight.
It didn’t take long for Agador to confront the leader and as they raced into the final furlong, he was ready to go. Mouesan never had to ask the colt for his best as he easily pulled away.
Agadore is out of the winning Peintre Celebre mare Marunouchi, a granddaughter of Grade I winner Leariva, who produced multiple stakes winner and group placed Athanor. The family also includes champions City Light and Busybeingfabulous.
Agador is the fourth winner for Caravaggio in under a week with that group led by Group I winner Tenebrism. Agador takes him to 20 juvenile winners this year, three ahead of any other North American sire in 2021.
