Air Force Blue Strikes With $400,000 Colt at OBS
Only days after his first runner won on debut, Air Force Blue struck early in the four-day OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale on Tuesday when his colt out of No Splits sold for $400,000 to co-lead the session.
Working a quarter in :20.4 last week, the colt bred by Royal Oak Farm, et. al. was consigned by Wavertree Stables as Hip 209. Going through the ring a little over half-way through the session, he was knocked down to Justin Casse on behalf of M.V. Magnier.
A half-brother to stakes placed Lucky Jingle and one other winner from two of racing age, the dark bay is a grandson of dual-Grade II winner Great Intentions. Hailing from an active family, his page also includes Grade I winning Karlovy Vary, the dam of 2020’s dual-Grade III winner Mean Mary.
Out of a winning Smart Strike mare, the colt is bred on the successful War Front x Smart Strike cross that has also produced Grade I winner Peace And War and Grade II winner Cambodia among four stakes horses and 14 winners.
Europe’s Champion 2-Year-Old Colt and the highest rated 2-year-old Aidan O’Brien has ever trained, Air Force Blue’s first crop has been in high demand with both his first yearlings and 2-year-olds selling for up to $400,000.
