Always Inthe Munny Impressive In Bara Lass Stakes
Munnings’ impressive filly Always Inthe Munny (3f Munnings x Always a Star, by Danehill) romped in her stakes debut Sunday night with an 8½ length victory in the Bara Lass Stakes at Lone Star Park.
Going off as the heavy favorite in the six furlong dirt race, Always Inthe Munny thrived on an early duel, pulling away from that rival after a furlong. Once that filly dropped back, the race was all but over with Always Inthe Munny opening up multiple lengths on the field.
Turning into the stretch well in front, Always Inthe Munny wasn’t going to be caught as she took her record to three wins from five starts. A late run by the second-place finisher closed Always Inthe Munny’s margin down to 8 ½ lengths but it was a moot point in the end with the filly easily galloping home under a hand ride.
It was the second straight romp for the Michael Grossman-owned filly, who also won by eight lengths last month in a Will Rogers Down allowance for trainer Francisco Bravo.
Bred by Eureka Thoroughbred Farm, the filly is a half-sister to Listed paced Scatter a Star and the dam of Listed placed Sister’s Creed with six of the eight foals to race out of their dam Always a Star winning at least one race.
Always a Star herself is out of Group III-placed Coralita and a half-sister to Group III-placed Manison House.
It’s been another top class year for Munnings in 2020 with eight stakes winners and 11 stakes horses, led by his Grade II-winning Kentucky Oaks hopefuls Finite, Venetian Harbor, and Bonny South.
