Another Grade Two for Pretty n Cool
Exciting filly Pretty n Cool (2f Scat Daddy x Stayclassysandiego, by Rockport Harbor) scored a stylish victory in the $200,000 Grade II Matron Stakes at Belmont on the weekend.
The Bob Baffert trained filly bounced back from a Grade I second at her previous run to Songbird in the Debutante Stakes to post a commanding length victory in the six furlong sprint.
“We knew going in she was doing really well and six furlongs is her distance,” Baffert said.
“She has a lot of quality and ran like we thought she’d run. She's pretty fast. She could have rated, but [jockey Martin Garcia] just kept her where she was comfortable. She was doing it the right way and he knows her really well, which is why we had him ride her.”
Already a winner of the Grade II Sorrento Stakes, Pretty n Cool has the overall record of three wins and a second from four starts with prizemoney of $342,000.
A $160,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale purchase, Pretty n Cool is the first winner for stakes-placed Stayclassysandiego, a half-sister to Grade I winner Sean Avery.
