Another Stakes Win for Saratoga Snacks
Evergreen sprinter Saratoga Snacks (6hTale of the Cat x Near and Dear, by Red Ransom) recaptured his best form to win the $98,000 Saginaw Stakes at Belmont on the weekend.
Back in the stable of Gary Sciacca, after a stint with Bill Mott, Saratoga Snacks won the 1 and 1/16th mile contest by three parts of a length.
"He ran well,” said his trainer.
“I think if he had run this way last time it would have been a different ballgame. He did everything right. He had an easy first quarter, picked it up a little bit for the next quarter, and made it a horse race.
“I'm proud of him. He might go to the Alydar [S. Aug. 9] or the Evan Shipman [S. Sept. 4] at Saratoga. We'll see."
Saratoga Snacks has won nine of 21 starts earning over $650,000 in prizemoney.
A half-brother by top class sire Tale of the Cat to stakes-placed Rajman, Saratoga Snacks is from Near and Dear, whose dam is a half-sister to Grade I winner Without Feathers.
