Arabian Knight Impressive on Keeneland Debut

Breeders’ Cup Saturday started on a high note for Uncle Mo at Keeneland when his son Arabian Knight (2c Uncle Mo x Borealis Night, by Astrology) won a Maiden Special Weight by an easy 7 ¼ lengths.

Breaking quickly in his debut, the Bob Baffert trainee took command early in the seven-furlong race and never gave it up. Sticking close to the field in the first half of the race, he started to power away as he straightened for home and the race was all over. He was 7 ¼ lengths in front of the runner-up while the third placed runner finished over 13 lengths behind.

Racing owner Zedan Racing Stables dug deep to buy the colt at this year’s OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds when paying $2.3 million to buy him from Top Line Sales. The Corser Thoroughbreds had also been a $250,000 yearling at last year’s Keeneland September Sale.

Arabian Knight is out of a half-sister to two graded stakes performers and to the dam of the stakes winning Connie K. The extended family includes Champion Male Sprinter Big Drama, Grade I winner Sheer Drama, and Grade I-placed Antahkarana among others.

Uncle Mo is the sire of 13 2-year-old winners, led by two stakes winners and four graded stakes performers, led by dual Grade I-placed Gulfport.
