AU$1.3 Million Colt Leads Justify Offerings at Inglis Easter
A worldwide sensation, Justify’s popularity was on display at this week’s Inglis Australia Easter Yearling Sale, led by an AU$1.3 million colt.
Consigned by Coolmore Stud and purchased by Chris Waller Racing and Mulcaster Bloodstock, the yearling was the seventh most expensive colt of the sale. He is the second foal out of the multiple stakes-placed Crystal Fountain. That mare is a three-quarter sister to Australian champion Serenade Rose and Group II-placed Ronchi.
“He’s a great colt by a great sire and we have plenty of stable clients to go in him,” said Mulcaster.
Serenade Rose produced two stakes performers and is also the granddam of dual Group I winner Trekking and three other stakes performers. Crystal Fountain returned to Justify last season.
Justify was also the sire of a pair of AU$900,000 colts at the sale as well.
China Horse Club, Newgate, Go Bloodstock, and Trilogy teamed up for the Sledmere Stud-consigned Hip 319.
“He had over 240 parades for the week which is a huge number, but he was one of those horses that everyone that walked past him wanted to see him,” said Sledmere’s Royston Murphy. “He’s a good colt by a great stallion and we always thought Inglis Easter was the place for him.”
The colt is a half-brother to one winner from two to race out of Stockton Abbey. That mare is a full sister to the stakes winner and Group II-placed Darlington Abbey and out of Grade III-placed Wynyard Hall, who is the dam of three winners from three to race.
Wynyard Hall is one of three stakes performers out of Voltage Pak, who also produced Group II winner Rohan. Stockton Abbey was another to visit Justify in Australia in 2023.
B&J Racing snapped up the other AU $900,000 colt from Torryburn Stud as agent for Peachester Lodge.
The colt is out of Pierro mare Arcadia Angel. A daughter of stakes winner Arcadia Rose, she is a three-quarters sister to Australian champion Arcadia Queen and Group III winner Arcadia Prince. The page also includes Group II winner Arcadia Dream and Group II-placed Shalatin.
“He was a great colt for a first foal and was well placed at Inglis Easter,” said Peachchester Lodge’s Linda Huddy. “The mare is back in foal to Justify and has a lovely colt by Home Affairs."
Justify’s eight sold brought AU$5,035,000 with his AU$629,375 average fourth best among all sires with more than one sold.
