Uncle Mo Shower

Aunt Kat Impressive In Aqueduct Victory

Aunt Kat (4f Uncle Mo x Carolyn’s Cat, by Forestry) was another impressive Maiden Special Weight winner for Uncle Mo when the filly broke her maiden by 9 ¾ lengths in her third start.

Racing over 6 ½ furlongs at Aqueduct, the Bill Mott trainee went straight to the lead out of the gate. A brief challenge early on was quickly put to bed and when jockey Dylan Davis asked the filly to go, she easily pulled away.

Despite being geared down in the closing stage, the filly flashed under the wire nearly 10 lengths ahead of second with the third place horse finishing over 13 lengths behind the winner.

A $410,000 Keeneland Yearling purchase by Mike Ryan from Hidden Brook, the filly is owned by Carl F. Pollard and was bred by Bonne Chance Farm.

Bred on the same Uncle Mo x Forestry daughter cross as Uncle Mo’s champion and Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist and Grade III winner Auntie Joy, Aunt Kat is a half-sister to Grade III winner Mufajaah out of Grade II winner Carolyn’s Cat.

A top sire year in and year out, Uncle Mo looks to have a number of rising stars in the wings with Aunt Kat’s win following up four impressive 3-year-old Maiden Special Weight winners last weekend.
