Blue Abbi Road Another Smart Winner for Air Force Blue
Blue Abbi Road (3f Air Force Blue x Abbigucci, by Quality Road) became her sire’s 27th winner on Tuesday with an easy gate-to-wire victory in her third start.
Racing over six furlongs at Mahoning Valley, the filly bolted as soon as the gates open to immediately take the lead. It didn’t take long for Blue Abbi Road to leave the field behind by multiple lengths and she never looked back.
A late running rival cut her margin to 1 ¾ lengths at the line but that was the only time there was even a hint of a threat for the Aaron West trainee with the rest of the field over six lengths behind. The Dividing Ridge Farm homebred was hitting the board for the second time in her career with this victory.
Blue Abbi Road is the first winner for her dam, an unraced daughter of stakes winner and Grade I-placed Yonagucci. The family also includes Grade II winner Private Horde and Grade III winner Euphrosyne.
With his 27th winner, Air Force Blue ties for third among all second crop sires with the stallion also a top 10 sire by stakes horses and earnings.
