Blue-Blooded Mo Mosa Latest Winner For Uncle Mo
Mo Mosa (3c Uncle Mo x Roughing, by Eskendereya) was impressive winner under lights at Turfway Park on Thursday night when becoming the latest winner for Uncle Mo.
The colt broke strongly as the favorite in the one-mile race and was happy to let the pacesetter open up a few lengths on him down the backstretch. It was easy going for the colt to take the lead in the far turn and he easily shrugged off a challenge from the field in the final furlong before finding another gear to win by 5¾ lengths.
Bred and owned by Perry and Denise Martin, the colt was making his third career start for trainer Mike Maker and is the second foal for Roughing. Sold for $500,000 at the Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale while carrying Mo Mosa, Roughing is a half-sister to Grade I winner Diplomat Lady, Grade II winner Dream Play, and Listed placed Fox Caller.
Mo Mosa’s granddam Playcaller has proven to be a matriarch of a talented family with 16 stakes horses under her name including Grade I winner Hunter O’Riley and Group II winner/Group I placed Zululand.
The sire of two of the top five fillies on the Road To The Kentucky Oaks leaderboard, Uncle Mo continues to prove that he’s a top sire in 2020 with 38 winners in the first month and a half of the year including two graded stakes winners.
