Brilliant Stakes-Winner and TDN Rising Star for Lucky
With a new stakes-winner and a TDN Rising Star, exciting young sire Lookin At Lucky was in top form on Saturday.
Opening his Black Type account in the $252,098 New York Breeder’s Futurity was Good Luck Gus (2c Lookin At Lucky x Tacticmove, by Deputy Minister), who bolted in to win the six furlong sprint by five and a half lengths to become the fourth stakes-winner for Lookin At Lucky.
Prepared by Rudy Rodriguez, Good Luck Gus has the smart record of two wins and a second from four starts with prizemoney of $217,059.
A $97,000 Fasig-Tipton August Yearling, Good Luck Gus is the second winner for Tacticmove, a half-sister to Grade II winner Cat Fighter from dual Grade I winner Strategic Maneuver.
Earning TDN Rising Star status with a dazzling nine and a quarter length win at Santa Anita was One Lucky Dane (2c Lookin At Lucky x Echo Harbor, by Boston Harbor).
Placed at his first two runs, albeit with excuses, the Bob Baffert trained colt put it all together in impressive style for this one mile maiden.
The top seller for his sire last year when fetching $490,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, One Lucky Dane runs for Michael Lund Petersen and is a half-brother to Grade III winner Western Smoke.
