Caravaggio Hoping To Continue Sales Success At Goffs UK

The first crop of ‘Ballydoyle Bullet’ Caravaggio make their European yearling sales debut next week, with eight of his progeny catalogued for the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster.

A Group 1 winner as a two and three-year-old, Caravaggio received a high caliber first book of mares, 48% of whom were black-type performers and/or producers. Their resulting foals saw the son of Scat Daddy lead the first crop sire table at the Tattersalls Foal Sale, where his highest-priced colt fetched 250,000gns.

Scat Daddy fever is expected to return at the yearling sales and among those on offer next week is a colt out of top-class sprinter Danehurst (Danehill), whose victories include the Flying Five Stakes- just like Caravaggio himself. The resulting bay colt will be consigned by Glenvale Stud as Lot 166.

Castlehyde Stud send a pair of Caravaggio’s first yearlings to Doncaster; a grandson of Group 1 Prix de l’Opera heroine Satwa Queen (Lot 359) and a half-sister to the dam of Stakes winner Million, himself by Scat Daddy (Lot 390).

The Premier Yearling Sale has been successful in the past for Anna Sundstrom’s Coulonces Sales and among her 2020 offering is a grey colt out of a half-sister to Group 1 performer Peace Envoy (Lot 355).

Oakgrove Stud sent a winning half-sister to their superstar Al Kazeem to Caravaggio in his first season at stud and the grey colt she produced is catalogued as Lot 90.

Ringfield Stud, meanwhile, offer a filly out of a half-sister to Group 1 Phoenix Stakes victor Sudirman as Lot 126.
