Carressa An Easy Winner for Uncle Mo
Talented Uncle Mo daughter Carressa (3f Uncle Mo x Iplaytricks, by Desert God) made Del Mar her playground on Friday when impressively registering her second career victory by 8 1/4 lengths.
Trained by John Shirreffs for Mercedes Stables LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds, Scott Dilworth, Dorothy Ingordo, David Ingordo, and Steve Mooney, the filly was only a length off the leader soon after the break in the one-mile dirt race. She was eager for more and jockey Victor Espinoza allowed her to go on with it half-way through the race where she easily took command and build up a lead on the field.
In the far turn, she was traveling easily and clearly enjoyed returning to Del Mar, romping in the stretch under a hand ride to win with her ears pricked.
It was the second victory for the filly at the track after she broke her maiden there in August. After her first two starts earlier this year, a brief break seemed to be the ticket for the filly with Carressa winning twice and finishing second once in her three starts since her return.
Bred by Michael C. Stinson, she is the first foal out of four-time stakes winner Iplaytricks. A full-sister to two other stakes horses, Iplaytricks also has an unraced 2-year-old filly by American Pharoah.
Carressa is bred on a similar cross to Uncle Mo’s Grade I winner Unbridled Mo and Grade III winner Mo Tom in addition to two other stakes horses.
