Champion Classic Empire’s First Crop On Offer at OBS

Champion Classic Empire’s select group of 2-year-olds at OBS March Sales of Two-Year-Olds In Training saw their first of eight representatives get off to a good start during the first session of the breeze show.

Selling as Hip 21, the filly consigned by Pike Racing is a granddaughter of multiple stakes winner Amazing Buy and breezed in :10.2. Bred by H & E Ranch and out of a young Unbridled’s Song mare who already has a winner, the March-born filly’s granddam is also a half-sister to Canadian champion Alpha Bettor.

The filly was one of five Classic Empire offerings to breeze in :10.2 with the next one coming the following day as Hip 299.

A half-sister to three winners, the Harris Training Center-offered filly is out of the Grade III-placed Tristanme. That mare is one of five stakes horses for her dam, led by stakes winners Regiment and Eternal Cup. A family also known to produce producers, two of Tristanme’s half-sisters have produced stakes horses. Tristanme’s Mt. Sackville Bloodstock-bred 2-year-old has sold before, bringing $115,000 as a weanling at the Keeneland November Sale.

The majority of Classic Empire’s 2-year-olds came in the final session of the breeze show with Hip 382 kicking Saturday off with another :10.2. Bred by Forty Oaks and consigned by Silver Oaks Farm, the filly is a half-sister to two winners from two to race with her dam a half-sister to stakes winner Yes She’s a Lady. Hip 382’s granddam is a half-sister to Grade I winner Pure Clan with that mare producing the stakes winning Princesa Carolina with Grade I winner Finley’sluckycharm also in the family.

Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, Hip 410 is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade I-placed Kelly’s Humor and the dam of stakes-placed We B Three. Out of the stakes placed Cauy’s Humor, the McKee Bloodstock-consigned filly finds stakes performers under each of the dams on her page with her first two dams both stakes performers themselves.

The final offering in the all-filly :10.2 club is the Pine Ridge Stables-bred Hip 545 from S G V Thoroughbreds. A half-sister to three winners, the filly out of Hello Charlie sees 18 stakes horses named on her page. Her dam is a half-sister to stakes-placed Nault with three of her sister producing stakes performers, led by Grade I-placed Stellaris and multiple Grade II-placed Sweetgrass. This family also includes champion Althea, among others.
