Churchill Colt Makes All To Maiden Victory
The Andrew Balding-trained Chartwell Jock (3c Churchill – Tiptree, by Duke Of Marmalade) took another step forward on his third start to land Monday’s maiden at Wolverhampton.
The Churchill colt showed promise on debut, when he tired in the final two furlongs, and improved to finished second earlier this month. The bay was sent off favourite to go one better under Callum Hutchinson and made all of the running over nine and a half furlongs. Quickening approaching the final furlong, he was pushed out to score by a length.
Owned by Mick and Janice Mariscotti, Chartwell Jock was bought by his trainer as a yearling for 100,000gns. The improving son of Churchill was bred by Michelle Morris.
