Classic Empire Filly Secures Fourth Stakes Victory in Twixt
It was a fourth career stakes win for the Grade I-placed Interstatedaydream (4f Classic Empire x Babcock, by Uncle Mo) on Saturday when she returned to her winning ways in the Twixt Stakes.
Hitting the board in stakes her last two outs, Interstatedaydream broke awkwardly in the 1 1/16 mile dirt race and had to settle for a spot near the back of the field over six lengths behind the leader. She raced wide around the first turn before moving in a few paths for the backstretch run. The second turn saw the filly make her way through the pack in the far turn before gunning for the lead.
It took until the sixteenth pole to get it, but once she had the lead, the race was over. Interstatedaydream won by 2 ½ lengths as the favorite for Flurry Racing Stable and Brad Cox to take her earnings to $723,869.
Interstatedaydream has had a storied career over the last three seasons with 12 top three finishes in 13 starts including 10 at the stakes level. The filly’s biggest non-win placing came when third in the Grade I Ashland Stakes just a nose away from second as a 3-year-old.
Interstatedaydream is one of two stakes performers out of her Uncle Mo dam, who also produced the multiple stakes placed Emmeline. That dam is a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Uncaptured and multiple stakes winner Dancing Raven among others.
Classic Empire’s five stakes winners and nine stakes performers this year are led by the Grade I winner and Grade I Kentucky Derby third Angel of Empire.
