Classic Empire Kicks Off OBS With $250,000 Colt

Classic Empire’s first crop saw another high priced representative on Tuesday when a colt out of Sociable sold for $250,000 to Lauren Carlisle as agent.

Selling as his sire’s second offering through the ring at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds, the colt offered by Lucan Bloodstock is a half-brother to Grade I winner Keeper Ofthe Stars from three to race.

Bred by Hunter Valley Farm, he saw Keeper ofthe Stars add an update to the page when winning her 2021 debut on April 3. The Grade I form on the page runs strong throughout the generations for this colt. Their dam is a half-sister to dual Grade I winner The Factor with multiple Grade I-placed Chief Seattle under his third dam and multiple stakes winners under his fourth dam as well.

Led by a $410,000 colt this 2-year-old sales season, Classic Empire’s first crop has been in high demand with the 10 sold averaging $139,500.

Also seeing a $100,000 filly sell Tuesday, Champion 2-Year-Old and 3-year-old Grade I winner Classic Empire has 19 left to go through the ring at this sale.
