Classic Empire Weanling Sells For $220,000 at Keeneland
Buyers struck for a weanling from the first crop by brilliant racehorse Classic Empire early in the second session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale when Giant Elf Bloodstock purchased Hip 327 for $220,000.
Consigned by Crestwood Farm and bred by RMJ Stables, the bay colt is out of a half-sister to Group III placed Crafty Daddy and a grandson of stakes placed Eager Emma. His third dam is Grade II winner Shawklit Mint, who is out of a half-sister to two stakes winners.
This colt is the second $200,000 weanling for Classic Empire at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale with the freshman sire also having a colt sell for $225,000 during Book 1 of the sale.
A Champion 2-Year-Old, Classic Empire proved to be precocious and talented when winning Grade I races at 2 and 3.
