Del Mar Winner for Munnings
Talented filly Ben’s Duchess (3f Munnings x Armathwaite, by Sky Classic) is building a tidy record, posting her third victory with a hard fought success at Del Mar on Sunday.
Stakes-placed twice after breaking her maiden last December, the John Sadler trained filly has been super consistent of late and took this six furlong allowance by a nose.
Raced by Doubledown Stables, Ben’s Duchess has won three races and placed four times from seven starts earning over $146,000 in prizemoney.
She has been through the sale ring several times fetching $45,000 as a weanling, $57,000 as a yearling and finally $170,000 at the OBS March 2YO Sale.
Ben’s Duchess is from Armathwaite, a half-sister to stakes-winner Shareefa, the dam of Grade I winner Vergennes.
Munnings went close to siring another stakes-winner with smart colt Om (3c Munnings x Rare Cat, by Tabasco Cat) a gallant second in the $151,000 Grade III La Jolla Stakes also at Del Mar.
