Diamond Wow Dazzles in Our Dear Peggy
Diamond Wow (2f Lookin At Lucky x Patriotic Diamond, by Hat Trick) lived up to her name on Saturday when the filly was much the best in the Our Dear Peggy Stakes.
A winner on the turf last out, Diamond Wow took to the dirt when the Our Dear Peggy was rained off the grass. Going off as the favorite, Diamond Wow broke smoothly and let one horse in the field fly a few lengths in front of her as she galloped comfortably under Romero Maragh.
Entering the turn, Diamond Wow was done with the game and took the lead over quickly. The second choice went with her as the rest of the field watched the race over 10 lengths in front of them.
Diamond Wow made easy work of the run with the second choice never a serious threat and the third placed runner 12 lengths behind the runner-up.
Bred by Patrick Biacone Diamond 100 Racing C, Diamond 100 Racing and breeder-owner-trainer Biancone is joined by Amy Dunne in the racing ownership.
Diamond Wow is the first foal out of a stakes winning half-sister to Lookin At Lucky’s multiple surface Grade II winner Diamond Oops, making the juvenile a three-quarter sister to that gelding. The filly’s granddam is the stakes winning Patriotic Viva, who producing five winners from six to race.
Patriotic Diamond was bred to Lookin At Lucky again in 2020 and 2021.
Lookin At Lucky has five worldwide stakes winners and 15 stakes horses in 2021, led by Grade I winning juvenile Royal Luck and Hong Kong Grade I winner Panfield. In all, the stallion has sired at least one stakes performer from each of his worldwide crops born from 2015 to 2019 this year.
