Durant Buys $400,000 Justify Colt
It was a $400,000 colt for Justify on Tuesday during the closing session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale with Tom Durant winning the bidding war.
Hailing from the Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds consignment, the colt is a half-brother to three winners from four to race out of the winning My Fast One. The dam of the two-time winning Uncle Mo filly Lecce Baroque, My Fast One is also a half-sister to Uncle Mo’s stakes winning No Mo Dough and the stakes placed Terrific Storm.
Their dam is a half-sister to dual Grade I winner Wekiva Springs and stakes winner Diamond Sunjet with six stakes winners and 11 stakes performers under his third dam.
Bred by MMM Stables, it was this colt’s third time going through the ring but his first time through as a juvenile.
Justify’s 10 Northern Hemisphere-foaled stakes performers lead all second crop stallions while his eight stakes winners puts him in second in his crop. That group includes Saturday’s Sir Barton Stakes winner Arabian Lion.
