Envoutante (Uncle Mo) Winning the Shawnee Stakes at Churchill Downs

Envoutante Records Third Stakes Victory in Shawnee

Uncle Mo’s Envoutante (4f Uncle Mo x Enchante, by Bluegrass Cat) was back in the stakes winner circle for the third time in her last five starts on Saturday with a victory in the Listed Shawnee Stakes at Churchill Downs.

Making her second start of the year, the Kenny McPeek trainee stalked Miss Bigly around the 1 1/16 miles under the twin spires for much of the race. Making her move in the far turn, Envoutante collared the leader as they straightened for the stretch run. That filly put in a fight to keep her lead but as they passed the eighth pole, Envoutante had her head in front.

From that, it was a procession with jockey Brian Hernandez Jr just waving his whip a few times in the final stage as his mount galloped home to a 4 ¼ length victory – her fifth career win in 12 starts.

Bred by Jumping Jack Racing, Envoutante was purchased by racing owners Walking L Thoroughbreds and Three Chimneys Farm for $250,000 in 2018 as a yearling. She has also won a Grade II and a Grade III in addition to being Grade I-placed.

Envoutante is out of the multiple stakes placed Enchante, who is a half-sister to 19-time winner Metallic Mist. Envoutante’s family also includes four-time Grade I winner and champion sire Forty Niner.

Enchante also has an unnamed 2-year-old Classic Empire colt.

A top sire year after year, Uncle Mo’s 4-year-old crop includes 13 stakes winners and 21 stakes horses, led by Grade I winner Bast and six Grade II winners.
