Exciting debut winner for Declaration Of War
Trainer Richard Hannon sent out Department Of War (3c Declaration Of War-Danetime Out, by Danetime) to score in eye-catching style on his first racecourse outing at Nottingham on Saturday.
A 290,000gns yearling bred by BEC Bloodstock, the colt is a half-brother to the G1 winner Toormore and looks sure to add to his family’s record.
Department Of War raced prominently under Sean Levey and went on to win by two and a quarter lengths.
The Racing Post commented: “DEPARTMENT OF WAR cost 290,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to the yard's multiple Group-race winner Toormore, and Superlative/Champagne Stakes winner Estidkhaar…. he impressed with how he travelled and then picked up really strongly to win going away. This was a taking debut on many levels and he looks promising.”
